A Fine Effort at Vimy Department:
The re-dedication ceremony and memorial service from Vimy was one of the most well-conceived and well-executed events of recent times. The entire affair touched the heart and soul, and truly honoured those who gave their lives, as well as those who continue to serve on foreign soil. Speeches were mercifully short, delivered with profound respect, and made a powerful connection with a very diverse audience. No small feat.
One of the most poignant moments came from an un-named man who sat with head bowed during one of the prayers. He held in his hand a small framed photograph of two men in old army unforms. No doubt family members who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. To the camera people and production crew who found that image, and chose to share it, sincere thanks.
Spring is Finally Upon Us Department:
The Leafs and the Habs are out of the playoffs. Dear me, it must be spring. Where is Jean Beliveau when we need him most?
Belinda Bails Department:
Former Conservative MP, former Conservative leadership candidate, former girlfriend of Conservative cabinet minster, former Liberal cabinet minister, former “friend” of Mister Domi, Ms. B. Stronach is going back to Magna. Seems the nice lady has had enough of politics and will return to the corporate excitement of Dad’s wee company. Not a good message for M. Dion who is trying desparately to bring women candidates to the party. Ah well: Money Talks. Surprise?
Therapy Soon-to-be-scheduled Department:
Watch for Don Imus to attend sensitivity-therapy: That being the apology-of-choice for celebs. who stuff feet in mouth. Inquiring Minds wonder what Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would do if high-profile media types didn’t give them something to be ticked-off about. Speaking of Jackson and Sharpton, who decided those guys ought to be the spokespeople of choice on anything to do with race? Oh yeah, CNN.
